About Us

Marline Rostom, MA LMHC

Marline Rostom, MA LMHC - Owner | Provider | Supervisor

Welcome!

My name is Marline and I began Sound Psychotherapy & Counseling Services PLLC with the belief that every person is deserving of health, happiness, and compassionate support. My mission is to offer the opportunity for patients to embark on the journey towards healing, balancing, growing and thriving with the peace of mind of a caring and skilled professional at their side.

I have worked with people from all walks of life in the 19+ years that I have been a clinician. I believe that therapy is an important life choice that people make when things get tough. I believe that this courageous decision must be honored with compassion, empathy, and sincerity. I chose this work because I love to help people and share in their journey towards greater health and happiness. People who come to me have said that they appreciate my sense of humor, my non-judgmental demeanor, and my candidness as a therapist. I believe that it is important for people to feel safe to say anything they need to while in therapy, and thus people can feel free to say what is on their minds and in their hearts and will be met with unconditional, compassionate understanding. As a practice owner, I strive to hire like minded clinicians who will provide quality care to those seeking help.

Approach to Therapy

I work with men, women, and adolescents. I specialize in working with those seeking to heal trauma, manage difficult emotions, engage more effectively in relationships, and change detrimental behaviors. My treatment modality is a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and developmental psychology: I work with you to identify and change the beliefs, thoughts, and feelings that lead to behaviors that you may want to change or stop in order to live a healthier, happier life. I also help you to identify how these beliefs developed and work towards healing the experiences that cultivated in the beliefs that may be harmful.

I utilize an arsenal of treatment modalities in order to individualize your therapy sessions. I am interested in learning about all the areas of your life that may be affecting you currently. These can include: your family of origin, psychosocial development, emotional processes, thinking patterns, the behaviors and habits that do not serve you, your relationships, your fears and worries, and anything else you would like to share.

Ultimately, I consider myself an eclectic therapist as I tailor interventions depending on my clients' needs at the time. I like the flexibility of being able to meet the client where they are, as I believe this best serves the client in the realization of therapeutic goals. I believe that every person deserves safety, dignity, and peace of mind. I am looking forward to working with people who are seeking to live their best life.

Shoshana Rosenthal, MA LMHC - Provider (Maryville and Telehealth)

Life can be difficult, painful, wonderful, confusing, and more. My goal as a therapist is to provide space in this complicated world for people to feel seen and heard so that they may learn about their difficulties and create positive change. Clients often tell me that I am honest, caring, silly, and “down to Earth”.

Approach to Therapy

I work with children, adolescents, couples, families, and individuals. My personal and professional experiences have led me to encounter a variety of people and settings including: sober housing and treatment, shelter for unhoused people, brief/acute behavioral services, outpatient day services, and intensive in and out-of-home services. Through these experiences, I have come to consider myself a relational therapist. This means that regardless of the issue/s presented, my ultimate goal is to assist people to develop safe, authentic relationships with themselves and others. I have been formally trained in DBT, MST, TF-CBT, and SFBT, and am knowledgeable in theories of attachment and depth psychology. In therapy, I utilize strategies and understandings from these modalities to best suit the person in front of me. Ultimately, I am most interested in helping clients understand how environmental dynamics of past and present have come to impact a person, then learn to shift from unhelpful to more helpful patterns of living.
